May 22 - Staying in the lines. - 1994 Honda Del Sol Convertible.<br /> <br /> Thought I would try this one more time, this time with a more dramatic scene. 2nd time was not a charm. It proved to be a bit more difficult than I thought. This was the best out of the bunch.<br /> <br /> *Sreekanth - I walk around the car with the fuse in my hand and outline the car. I move so much during the long exposure that I become invisible in the shot.

Thought I would try this one more time, this time with a more dramatic scene. 2nd time was not a charm. It proved to be a bit more difficult than I thought. This was the best out of the bunch.

  • June 8 - Boxer, Patricia Alcivar out of Asheville, NC<br /> <br /> Patricia is an accomplished amateur boxer having won two consecutive NYC Golden Gloves titles in Madison Square Garden and impressively the first female in boxing to ever be named Athlete of the Year by the United States Olympic Committee. She also won the gold at the first Women's National Amateur Boxing title in 1997 and went on to take the silver the very next year. <br /> <br /> In addition to her interest in TV ads and film, Patricia is currently pursuing her plans to box professionally.

  • June 1 - Sensei<br /> <br /> *Answer to Dakota's question - the shadow to the right is created by the chair in the back. A speedlight was placed on the chair and pointed to the wall to and light and interest to the wall.
  • May 25 - Fastball<br /> <br /> To answer the question before it is asked, yes the ball was really on fire. The answer to the second question, a little on the tip of my index finger, which is why it is more bent in this shot.

  • May 22 - Evander Holyfield Evander Holyfield met with Charlotte leaders yesterday to talk about "knocking out homelessness one lap at a time". From there, he went to NeXus Church and spent the evening talking with dozens of homeless children, getting his picture taken with the kids and joining them them in a cook out. It was a wonderful opportunity to be the only photographer to spend the day with him.   • May 21 - "I cannot color between the lines".<br /> <br /> *Okay, intially I posted this without explaination, but since a few asked I thought I better say a little about it. The shot was really quite easy to do. You can do it with a long exposure and a sparkler. I shot this in Aperture priorty closing my aperture enough to give me about 30 secs. A while back I came across a 20 foot fuse at the firework store and though I wasn't sure what I would use it for, I knew it would be used to set up a night time shot. The fuse worked very similar to the way sparklers work. I tried to outline the lines of the car, but it is obvious that I don't know how to color between the lines.
  • May 20 - Camera Tossing.<br /> <br /> No, I didn't throw my D300 up in the air. I pulled out an old Olympus Point and Shoot, went out in the backyard, set the self timer, tossed in the air a few times and this was my favorite of the bunch. No megapixels were harmed in the making of this photo. Post processed with Topaz Adjust and Topaz Simplify.
  • May 19 - Band of light<br /> <br /> * Answer to Melissa's question: Cameron's eyes are both brown. The band of light goes from reddish orange to yellow and then back to orange again. So, I guess it is fair to say that his eyes are not color balanced in this shot.
  • May 18 - Old watch - This knockoff has been sitting in my dresser drawer and since its battery died, it serves little purpose to me now other than to make a POD.<br /> <br /> I needed to get something up today and Littlebro, Scott inspired me to take this one. Boy, taking a picture of a watch is more difficult than I thought. You can't just put on a macro lens and shoot it. I really had to play with the light to get this shot.
  • May 17 - This is Nerice Schwartz, an young and beautiful actress from Virginia. I was absolutely fascinated by her personality and imagine that we will all see more of her. I have been working on portraits all day today and have had very little time for anything else.<br> <a href="http://jeffgroves.smugmug.com/gallery/3548321_xdv9f"><font color="yellow">Click here </font></a> to see a few more portrait shots from this week (I am still working on adding more, so if you are looking for someone particular, check back soon).
  • May 16 - Models from yesterday's shoot in Charlotte. <br /> What do you do when you have a bunch of beautiful models to choose from? Post as many as you can in one photo.
  • May 15 - Actress Kristi Lytle from Charlotte, NC.<br /> Would you believe that she is 13 years old?
  • May 14 - Meet Rose Quinn, an aspiring actress that I had the pleasure to work with yesterday in Raleigh. What a contagious laugh and smile she has!
  • May 13 - Meet actress/model Kionna from NC. I had the privilege to photograph her during a photo shoot in Raleigh yesterday. She had such a bubbly personality!
  • May 7 - I really wish I had noticed the lady in the bikini when I took this shot. Yes, there is a lady in a bikini in this photo. Look at it XL.
